Galería Vilaseco is a space dedicated to the research, production and promotion of contemporary art. Through its activities, the gallery fosters a dialogue between artists, context and processes, committed to providing long-term support.
Vilaseco has gone through various phases since its inception with Ana Vilaseco (2003–2011), who launched the gallery and established it within Galicia’s cultural scene. This was followed by the Vilaseco Hauser period (2012–2014), during which the project opened up to international initiatives.
Since 2014, under the direction of Miriam Vilaseco, the gallery’s focus has centred primarily on conceptual and abstract contemporary art. The gallery has developed a way of rethinking its own format, working with artists over the long term, supporting their creative processes and providing them with a production space in San Cristovo de Mouricios, a village in Lugo, where work is based on tradition, affection and collaboration.
In addition to our exhibition programme, we have an extensive gallery collection designed to support those wishing to start or build up an art collection. We also run a publishing programme through which we publish artist’s books and produce limited editions, making it easier to acquire works and continuing our commitment to contemporary creation.
