The Tempest / Manuel Vilariño

20 February – 30 June 2020

The sea, dreams, ice, sunsets and the wind are essential ideas in the poetic thought and life of Manuel Vilariño.

The Tempest explores the idea of the contemplative landscape as a model of vision and spirituality based on the experience of the inner nature of words and images.

The light of contemplation is an inner light, the most intimate thing about a person. The artist conceives of landscape as a contemplative thought process that blurs the boundary between thought and feeling, and which gives shape to silence. The serenity of silence.

The Tempest. “We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep.” –Shakespeare
