Elbe / Peter Krauskopf

2013

The German artist Peter Krauskopf exhibits under the title Elbe the first individual exhibition in Spain. The works are inspired by the river of the same name that crosses Germany and the Czech Republic, configuring landscapes recreated by painters such as Caspar David Friedrich.

Apart from Romanticism, Krauskopf’s work is influenced by the Russian Suprematism of Kazimir Malevich, as well as the color-field painting of the New York school, which gave rise to the styles of painters such as Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman, who have long been a subject of interest for Krauskopf.

Throughout his career, Krauskopf has combined tradition and contemporaneity through an abstract language with which he configures panoramas of different formats, including other landscapes that the viewer will discover if he looks closely.
